You can read in yesterday's blog how I woke up...so after that I went to work and watched the stock market trampoline its way through the day.
Some of the oscar nominations were surprising in a good way. Juno for best picture. Yeah! Lars and the Real Girl for original screenplay. Yeah! "Falling Slowly" from Once for best song. Yeah! And so on...
On the way to our cars, a coworker with whom I walk every day slipped on ice neither of us saw. She broke her glasses and cut her brow & bled quite a bit. Six stitches, I hear today. Scary!
I get home to the news Heath Ledger died. What?!?
And the fabulous Ginny Rorby sent me a signed copy of "Hurt Go Happy" so not only do I finally have a nice hardcover with that pretty cover (until now I only had an advance reader's copy) but it's signed! Yeah!
I was really ready for bed after pizza and a good old bad horror movie (The Reaping--I'm a sucker for religious horror, "Seventh Sign" makes me cry every time I watch it. I love it!)
How many types of "those days" do you have in your life? I have tons: the tired day, the day where nothing goes right, the day where everyone is staring, the day when I can't seem to do anything right, the day when I feel like I forgot my pants...
Today is one of those days when the pieces in my brain don't seem to fit together. I have no social skills (usually challenged in this department...when what little I have deserts me, it's scary). I forget to do the obvious...like just now when I sat down at the reference desk, I forgot to log in my phone--hmm, I thought it was a quite hour (actually if my supervisor is reading this, it really IS a quiet hour and I got a lot of catalogue work done). I start things and forget what I started. And I write vapid blog entries like this one.
Perhaps it has something to do with the movie I started watching while walking this morning (critics hated it, but it's made me laugh out loud a couple times so far):
Or the movie we watched last night (this one made me laugh so hard I cried once--the "plum" quote which I won't go into was so unexpected and gross. Good goobery, brainless fun):
Or maybe there is something to my years-old superstition about the necessity of matching the color of my underwear to my outfit...I didn't have any orange undies this morning & wore blue with a red stripe...because the orange shirt I'm wearing has blue and red stripes...and red is in the color family with orange--why, YES! I am OCD!
