Complements and Locks
Gosh I'm mouthy today!
Yesterday was complement Timmie day. One co-worker told me how handsome (I believe she even used the word sexy) my beard is. She wondered if the dark hue was natural--oh yes, it was blond in November, but it grew out nearly black ;-) Another co-worker said he liked my blog (Hi Eric!)
Today, I'm having trouble with locks. Trent left for work & then came running back from the garage saying his key won't fit in the lock. I ran downstairs with visions of us having to bust in the window to get to our cars...and gave him my keys (shorts and a t-shirt in 14 degree weather = bad idea). He tried mine & it didn't work either. Then he blew into the lock and it worked. Last night we had horizontal rain followed by a snap freeze--guess a little got in the lock. It did point up the fact that we probably should have an alternate way to get into the garage in case something like this happens again...
On my way in to work, I stopped at the bank. They just last year installed security doors--you know the kind: you step in between the doors & the inner door won't open until the outer door closes plus you walk through a metal detector. I make my deposit and try to leave. The door closes behind me & the little green light comes on. I push on the bar but nothing happens. I make sure I am pushing on the correct side of the door (been that dork before) & I am. I try a few more times. Still locked. I turn around & the young hispanic couple who were talking to the bank manager in Spanish are peering in at me. I shrug. They smile and wave. I turn around and push on the door with exaggerated force. He keeps on waving. Thankfully she goes back around the corner. A few minutes later one of the bank employees sticks her head around the corner and says loudly: "Take off your glove and push on the door." I do and it opens.
Who knew? I guess the bank door needs to run a current through you to open.
Does it work for people with hook hands? Oh, they probably set off the alarm going IN!
Reading an excellent book for a review:
No cover on Amazon yet, but I am enjoying it muchly--more later.
